Love at First Sight

I have never believed in “love at first sight” until I walked into the Dixon’s garage. It was as lovely winter day in Seattle (cold and drizzling) when Gary walked us into his garage and showed us his lovely 1972 911S Targa. Gary is my kind of car-guy, fussy!

The Targa was purchased by Gary from the original owner in southern California in 1991 and painstakingly massaged by the Dixon’s over the years to the example seen here.

Originally sold at Circle Porsche in Long Beach California this 911S was totally ding, accident and rust free and represents an incredibly rare find in the Porsche market today.

The service records are complete (though the carbon copies are hard to read) from day one and remain with the car today to document the mileage as well as restoration work done to the car.

The “S” shows incredibly well with only one repaint expertly applied by renowned painter Don Emory 15 years ago to a virgin body.

The warm glow of the paint is enhanced by the aluminum accents of the Targa bar, 6″ and 7″ Fuch’s and muffler skirt. The exterior is further highlighted by the original “S” spliter and the rare over the bumper fog lights as listed on the Kardex.

The Air conditioning and Leather covered factory sport seats make driving her a pleasure especially when the additional factory options of the raised hub steering wheel, antenna and loud speaker suppression kit are added.

The numbers matching 2.4 liter engine and the 5 speed transmission work flawlessly together as they have since new. We have just had this 911S completely checked over by Chris Powell (PCA tech chairman) and his crew at Chris’s German Auto in Bellevue, Washington where it received and A+ overall.

It’s becoming rarer you are able to purchase a truly rust free early 911, its once in a lifetime you can buy one so unque you will never see another one like it. Ever!
