Cam’s 1,748 mile round trip from Durham, North Carolina to Tampa, Florida
Vehicle: 1965 Porsche 356C (car came with misleading SC badging) Coupe Signal Red sunroof coupe (Nickname Red Rhonda). Car came from the Huffman Collection and is my daily driver.
Purpose: Visiting the girlfriend’s parents
Vehicle Trip Preparations: Driver door repaired and painted after deer accident, rebuilt front spindles, rebuilt all four braking systems, new starter installed, four new Koni Sport classic shocks installed, oil change, valve adjustment, Replaced clutch pressure plate with new unit, and repair all lighting systems for the car.
Luggage fitment Issue: Leitz luggage rack from my Convertible D used for his and her luggage bags. I was also able to strap on my Obrea road bicycle on the luggage rack. The front trunk contained one large ladies bag, bicycle helmet/other cycling apparel, one box with six bottles of wine and 356 travel problem kit. One concour tool kit (only thing we had lying around the shop). One large dog will fit fine if the back seats are folded down for max space.
Observations: Doing 80mph on I95 at night with six volts is as exciting as driving an ex 1991 Formula one car. Always pack warmer clothes so that you don’t have to wear your girlfriend’s PJ pants when you come back to winter weather. Headrest would of been nice to have on the trip. Also, the Georgia State Police are very active gents and seem to enjoy their Dodge Chargers.
