We are going to take time out of our Concours Competition Schedule this summer to watch Fred tackle the course and accomplish one of his major bucket list goals on July 8th.

Fred has trained hard and is ready to compete.

It will be quite an event, with Romain Dumas shipping over an Porsche RSR from France and Walter Rohrl driving his winning 25^th anniversary Quattro for Audi (in exhibition).

In Fred’s own descriptive words:
“This is an automotive Woodstock Cam…. The first year of an all paved road. Very, very, very, fast. Epic.”

A local businessman and prominent car dealership team up to race the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

Colorado Springs, CO- (April 11^th, 2012)- Porsche of Colorado Springs announced today, that it will prepare and sponsor a 2001 Porsche Turbo in this year’s 90^th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. “For the past several years, we have provided the Official Pace Cars for the event, as well as logistical and mechanical support for 7-time winner Jeff Zwart and his Porsches,” announced Joe Brenner, General Manager of the dealership. “We will continue to host Jeff and his team, but saw an opportunity to further support the community and the race itself by sponsoring an entry.”

The driver of the #73 Porsche Turbo, will be local businessman Fred Veitch.  Fred has an extensive background in Porsche racing, as well as a passion for this event.  “To be able to compete at Pikes Peak, has been a goal most of my racing career,” indicated Veitch. “To have the full support of Porsche of Colorado Springs is incredible; I look forward to participating in the rich history of this event on its 90^th Anniversary.”  At 64, Veitch will be the oldest “rookie” in the highly competitive Time Attack Class.

In addition to Porsche of Colorado Springs, other sponsors include Andial Porsche, Roads Scholars, GIAC, Suncor Energy/Shell Oil, John Fogg Automotive, The Sign Shop, Flatirons Grill, Jose Muldoon’s, Masterdrive, High Country Window Tint, Rex Custom Tire Service, and JBJ Precision Industries.

The first test of the car will occur on April 28^th & 29^th at Pikes Peak International Raceway, in preparation for the race, itself, on July 8^th.

Adhering to Sire William Lyons maxim of “grace, pace and space”, the Mark 2 was a beautiful, fast and capable saloon.

The Mark 2 gained a reputation as a capable car among criminals and law enforcement alike; the 3.8 Liter model being particularly fast with its 220 bhp engine driving the car from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 8.5 seconds and to a top speed of 125 mph with enough room for five adults. Popular as getaway cars, they were also employed by the Police to patrol British motorways. They were also raced successfully in the European Touring Car Championship.

The Mark 2′s body lines, derived from the Mark 1, and overall layout proved sufficiently popular over time to provide an inspiration for both the Jaguar S-Type introduced in 1999 and the smaller X-Type debuted in 2001.

This matching numbers Mark 2 (Chassis P218126DN, Body S015160, Engine LB6236-8) has only covered 702 miles after a exquisite restoration. It offers a practical opportunity to travel in style with your cohorts.

This 1973 911T is one of the best documented, well known 911’s ever produced by Porsche.  It has covered only 23,100 miles since new and is in original condition.  Last shown at the 50th Porsche Parade, our 911 is best known for being the first 911 to win the Manhattan Trophy.

 1964 Jaguar XKE Roadster

Our 1964 3.8 Roadster featured here is one exception and has been meticulously restored.  The crew at Road Scholars went to work and have spent way too many hours making sure she is a joy to drive.  The 3.8 liter starts effortlessly and revs smoothly through out the RPM range making this a a true performer in its day with 0-60 times at 6.5 seconds obtainable.

1973 Porsche 911T

Signal Yellow has to be one of the rarest colors offered in 1973, and this paint is as good as it gets for original cars.  This very early, 34,000 original mile 1973 911T has only had 3 owners, with documentation that would warrant a preservation winner anywhere it was shown.

1956 Austin-Healey 100M Le Mans Roadster Chassis: BN2L233187 Authentic factory built 100M Le Mans roadster Fewer than 170 are known to exist today with the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate. Proper sports cars are meant to prove themselves in competition. In 1953 Austin-Healey entered two very modestly modified cars for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. They managed a top speed of 113 mph on the Mulsanne Straight and finished 12th and 14th overall. This was an extraordinary performance by virtually unaltered serial production cars. A factory-prepared race car debuted at the Sebring 12 Hours in 1954, which took an impressive third place with Stirling Moss at the wheel. This car served as the model for a small run of factory competition-spec cars known as the 100S with further fame at Le Mans in 1954 and 1955. In order to capitalize on the growing legend, Donald Healey produced a road version of the 100S in 1956 called the 100M Le Mans, without question the finest evolution of the model. The beautiful example presented here is an authentic factory built 100M Le Mans roadster, confirmed as such by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, as well as the Worldwide Austin-Healey 100M Le Mans Register. A mere 640 100M Le Mans cars were produced by the factory, not to be confused with those converted by dealers with an available option kit containing many but not all of the significant upgrades. The Register states that fewer than 170 are known to exist today. The original colors of Ivory Cream with black coves and interior complement the comprehensive, superb and correct restoration by renowned marque specialists BMC Classics. Aside from the exceptional paint scheme and condition, passenger compartment invites close inspection, exhibiting a remarkable level of craftsmanship. As a bonus, the Healey is fitted with an authentic, fire breathing 100S Weslake competition aluminum cylinder head and exhaust manifold. The car comes with all the expected accessories including the spare tire and rim, owner handbook and tools, tonneau cover, and side curtains. Undoubtedly, this genuine factory-built 100M Le Mans Austin-Healey will attract attention at vintage racing events for its superlative performance and then at the concours for its striking good looks. This is truly a Healey for the connoisseur and RM auctions set the then world record price with this car in 2008 at $165,000! This is an excellent example of a truly rare and documented Sports car.

Traded amongst the top private collection since, this 911 features the S appearance package with front splitter, Becker Carona AM/FM stereo, full leather sport seats and 7′ RS wheels. On of only four cars painted in Cadillac Grey Beige metallic, this 911′s paint still shows like new.
